In Join a Mission Ministry
The story of how God is at work in this mission is truly awe-inspiring. What is being accomplished is only something God could do. Praveen, the campus pastor was connected to a Church in Simpsonville, SC through a divine appointment. At the time, he did not have a way to accomplish what God had placed in his heart. But, he had an unshakable faith in our God and what the Lord could accomplish. He shared the need to rescue these children with this U.S. church, Set Free Alliance was started as a result of this divine connection. Since then, the Lord has rescued over 22,000 children from slavery in rock quarries, sex trafficking, forced begging, brick factories, and other desperate situations. Set Free Alliance has partnered with many other Churches but the needs are on-going. Feeding the children daily is the greatest need and God is working through His people to meet this need. There are more than 18 million people enslaved in India. That’s more than anywhere else on the planet. While slavery is actually illegal in India, the country lives by an ancient tradition called the caste system, which shuns an entire people group known as “untouchables.” These are the poorest of poor who aren’t even considered a part of the system. They are trapped in an endless cycle of abuse, leaving them without the most basic human rights and as prey to modern day slavery. Through Set Free Alliance children are rescued, reunited with their families if they have them, cared for if they have nowhere to go, and empowered through education to live incredible lives. They are also partnered with a team of over 7,000 pastors in India who do the physical work of rescuing and caring for enslaved children. While many children are reunited with the families they were taken from, some live in their care long-term. They receive food, education, housing, counseling, love, age-appropriate vocational training, and they learn to dream big for their futures. Private donors cover their operational costs, so when you give, 100% of your donation brings freedom and empowerment to children in India. If you can spare just $20 you can buy rice and feed 150 children a meal. That’s a lot of full bellies. Click here to visit the official website for Set Free Alliance

In Christianity Under Attack
"At campuses throughout the country, outspoken Christians are regularly demeaned, debased and targeted for their beliefs. Academics, social groups, and college organizations regularly ridicule Christians by calling them hateful, bigoted, and privileged, among other labels. They conveniently forget that Christians have historically been among the most persecuted religious groups in the world and are still persecuted at ever-increasing levels throughout countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Incidents like these demonstrate how Christians are being targeted in the United States for adhering to their values. When will we realize that the threat of religious persecution isn’t as “far away from home” as we may think? We need to take a stand and be vocal proponents of our rights, starting today." **Excerpt from Fox News Article -Click here to read directly from source

In Can Salvation Be Lost?
There are several topics within the Church that are often too uncomfortable for many church goers and too controversial for some church leaders. But, I do believe that in His Word, God speaks loudly and decisively. This doctrine of the “Once Saved, Always Saved” theology is certainly a point of contention and confusion. It goes something like this: The moment a person genuinely 'accepts Jesus,' his salvation is secured. He faces no risk of ever losing his salvation, regardless of what he does, or doesn’t do. Once a person has been converted, all the sins he may commit in the future will not place his soul in any more danger. He may worship idols and commit murder, but because he has been "saved," he will still go to heaven. He will be with the Lord even if he never repents of those sins, and even if he continues in willful disobedience. However, let’s say that a person does return to a lifestyle of willful sinning, it merely proves that this person did not have a genuine, saving faith to begin with. Hmmm… Is this the truth? This belief is being heavily promoted throughout the modern Church, but does the Bible actually support this doctrine of eternal security? If we are wise, we will personally analyze this position to determine if it aligns with what the Bible actually teaches. Is it possible that we, or even those we trust for spiritual guidance, might be interpreting and manipulating scripture to make it say what we want it to say? Could it be that we are defending and relying upon doctrine that well-respected men of the faith have, themselves, been taught in error? It is eye-opening to study Church history and discover the fault of leadership and incorrect teachings perpetuated within the Church. How often do we accept advice that seems reasonable and may even be appropriate but is actually contrary to the Word of God? A distortion is very close to the truth. A simple distortion can drastically and detrimentally alter the original intent. Many of us make time to read novels, self-help books, and educational manuals. But, we'll let the most important guide for our lives sit on a shelf where it is rarely, if ever, opened. “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” {Proverbs 14:12 NIV} The assurance of our salvation is one of the most critical issues of our entire existence. If we have an interest and want to grow in our understanding and in our walk with Christ, we must train our Spirit with the truth of God's Word. When we function with the full Word of God, we operate in unity with Heaven. Let's be sure that our Christian experience is more than just a Sunday morning book club followed by brunch. In one of her Bible studies, Christian evangelist and author Priscilla Shirer made a profound statement that has stuck with me. She said, “Our enemy disguises himself as an angel of light. He wants you to believe what he’s telling you is God’s will for you. He makes the lie so close to the truth that unless you have an authenticating light, unless you have an objective standard by which you run every thought, person, and decision under, you’ll never be able to tell with your physical eyes what the truth is. The enemy disguises himself in the truth. Can you tell the difference between right and, almost right?” Noted 19th century pastor Charles Spurgeon was referred to often as the “Prince of Preachers.” He said, “Discernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It is knowing the difference between right and almost right.” The Apostle Paul wrote nearly one-third of the New Testament. Scripture tells us that he often went to the people and to the churches to “reason” with them concerning the scriptures. “As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures” {Acts 17:2 NIV} “…Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus… And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.” {Acts 19:1,8,9} The authors of the New Testament certainly do not condone being argumentative. However, arguing and reasoning are two distinctly different approaches. “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.” {2 Tim 2:23-24 NIV} Obviously, the discernment of the Word of God is not a "foolish or stupid argument.” Regardless, we are instructed not to be quarrelsome about it. Instead, we are advised to be kind to everyone. We are advised to be kind and gentle in our delivery for the express intent of teaching people, correcting opponents and for gaining the knowledge of the truth. If you emphatically believe that we are not saved by works but by grace through faith alone, I would like you to know that I agree with you. However, I don’t believe we should stop there. Yes, it is a biblical reality that grace comes by faith alone, but this truth is simply the foundation. We must look deeper into the Word of God and pray for discernment. Otherwise, how do we apply the verses in the Bible that appear to contradict our foundational truth? For instance, what about the verses from the book of James? “So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless…So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.” {James 2:17;24 NLT} Is it faith or is it works? It's both. Our works are not the root of our salvation. Works are simply a fruit of our relationship with God. It is the relationship with Jesus that is the root. However, if we truly belong to Him there WILL be evidence of a transformed life. Jesus Himself said "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? {Luke 6:46} You cannot stay where you are and go with God. Our acknowledgement of who He is and what He has done for us requires a response, not in words but in actions. If you are a student of the Bible, you may be thinking about Romans 8:38-39, which remind us that there is nothing in all of creation that can separate us from the love of God, and again, I would agree with you. Although, it is vital to recognize that everything described in this particular verse is an external force. I wholeheartedly believe that no external force can separate us from the love of God. No-one. Nothing. Nothing can separate ME from God’s love, except ME. I can remove myself from Him because I have free will. If our salvation is secured in spite of ourselves, then there is no such thing as free will. And, if losing our salvation is utterly impossible, then why do the very last words of the Bible say this? ”and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” {Rev 22:19} The mere mention of losing salvation is a source of intense debate within Christianity. I strongly believe it should not be casually dismissed. The two views are on completely opposing spectrums. Essentially, it is a question of eternal security or false assurance. If it is true that once we are saved, there is no possibility to lose our salvation, then both types of believers are in good standing. On the other hand, if the position that one can lose his salvation is correct, then the heavenly eternity of many misguided or lukewarm Christians is in serious jeopardy. After all, it was Jesus who said the words, “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’” {Matt 7:21-23 NLT} Many things simply cannot be tied up into a neat theological box, but instead, they require spiritual discernment, wisdom and a thorough examination of scripture. In a rebellious generation where the “Once Saved, Always Saved” theology is empowering many professing Christians to carelessly live a life that is identical to the principles of the world, answering the questions of eternal assurance may be one of our most necessary pursuits. Throughout the Bible, we see a God who blesses obedience and curses disobedience. We see a God who pardons and a God who punishes. In this same vein, pastors are required to instruct with a balance of both assurance and perseverance. However, when people are given the confident assurance that they "absolutely cannot lose their salvation," mass numbers of professing Christians are being drawn into a complacent state of casual Christianity. The Word of God warns us that the Lord has no interest in our casual faith. He said that He prefers for us to be either hot or cold, but lukewarm is not acceptable. {Rev 3:16} “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.” {2 Tim 4:3-4 NLT} It can be a dangerous position to blindly follow the parade. We can look around our world and see that we are living in the smallest sliver of time that has ever existed. Jesus spoke about the coming deception and what the Church would look like in the last days. He tells us how people would only be interested in listening to what they want to hear. We know that He was speaking of religious people because He said they would “turn away from the truth” and that they would only listen to teachers who say what sounds pleasing to their ears. Think about the world we live in today. How many churches offer motivational speaking and self-help type seminars rather than boldly proclaiming the truths in God’s Word? Sure, they may use an uplifting scripture or two to make their point, but what about the biblical call to put away our old lifestyles and live a transformed life? Have you heard people in the faith excuse their sin by rationalizing that God wants us to be happy? The truth is, God wants us to be in His Kingdom for eternity, and He will do whatever it takes to wake us up. Don’t get lulled away from the Lord by pursuing a path that leads to your own pleasure. Jesus said, “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” {Matt 7:13-14 NLT} Jesus tells us how to become a Christian. He says, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” {Luke 9:23 NLT} This is how we are to follow Christ. Christianity is not a gospel that is all about us and what Jesus can give us or do for us, it’s not about our self-fulfillment; it is quite the opposite. Denying one’s self is not popular, and it doesn't market well, especially in today's "me-first" culture. This is the truth: We live by dying to ourselves. Jesus goes on to say that we need to take up our cross daily and follow Him. In this message, the cross is a symbol of death, and Jesus used it to illustrate the fact that we need to put our own desires to death, and instead, follow His plans and purposes. He said that whoever doesn’t take up his own cross is not worthy of Him. {Matt 10:38-39} Let’s look back at Luke 9 verse 57. Someone says to Jesus, “I’ll follow you wherever you go.” Jesus replies in a way that ensures His followers know that they’re not going anywhere fancy. He said, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the son of man doesn’t have anywhere to lay His head.” He was saying, if you decide to follow me, you need to understand that it’s not about you. In fact, Jesus was really saying that if we follow Him it may cost us everything. In the book of John’s gospel, John memorialized a core teaching from Jesus. “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.” {John 12:24 - NLT} The point Jesus was making is this, you have to die to yourself if you are going to be fruitful. He continued in verse 25, “Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.” Everyone wants a Savior, but do you want a Lord? “Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord…” {Isaiah 1:18} That said, let’s reason together. In End Times Prophesy
I am re-posting an article I wrote and posted on another site in August of 2017. Isaiah 42:14-15; 20; 23 "For a long time I have kept silent, I have been quiet and held myself back. But now, like a woman in childbirth, I cry out, I gasp and pant. I will lay waste the mountain and hills and dry up all their vegetation.; I will turn rivers into islands and dry up the pools... You have seen many things, but have paid no attention; your ears are open but you hear nothing... which of you will listen to this or pay close attention in time to come?" Isaiah 46:10 "I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand... what I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that will I do."  -GOD  **All underlined words will take you to the source by clicking on the link "For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs." - Mark 13:8 (Also see Matthew 24:7-8) "While they are saying, 'Peace and safety!' then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape." - 1 Thess 5:3 It is an indisputable fact that ALL birth and labor pains intensify right before the baby is to be born. Google says, Syria. Lets ask Google: Is Syria in ruins?  Here is a picture of what Syria looks like right now. USA Today reported in March, 2017 that Syria still lies in ruins. ** New York Times Image of Syria 2015 * Updated Article: May, 2018 by CNN "The Lord will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind he will sweep his handover the Euphrates River. He will break it up into seven streams so that anyone can cross over in sandals. There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt." - Isaiah 11:15-16 "The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East."  - Revelations 16:12 The Euphrates River is the longest river in Western Asia and is experiencing something right now that has not happened since Biblical Plagues. Would it surprise you to know that the Euphrates River is drying up ? Oh, and, there have been 7 Dams installed on the Euphrates. Ask Google: "Has the Euphrates River Dried up 2017? Research has found that the Tigris-Euphrates Basin — comprising Turkey, Syria, Iraq and western Iran — is losing water faster than any other place on the planet except northern India. According to the UN Development Progamme (UNDP), while scientists have been able to record falling water levels, political analysts have simultaneously observed rising tensions." READ MORE The United Nations Development Program has predicted the total depletion of the Euphrates River by 2040 - click here to view the 2011 Drought Assessment Prophecy about Egypt..."The waters of the river will dry up, and the riverbed will be parched and dry. Every sown field along the Nile will become parched, will blow away and be no more."  - Isaiah 19:5-7 The Nile River is commonly regarded as the longest river in the world, The Nile, which is 6,853 km (4,258 miles) long and covers eleven countries. It is also the longest river in the world that has never gone dry until now. Do you think it's just coincidence  that the Nile River is also drying up ? Ask Google: "Has the Nile River Dried up 2017?" “The land has become very dry,” observes Mahmoud Abo Khokha, a farmer from Al Monofeyya governorate, in Egypt’s Nile delta. “Drought is no longer predictable; it used to hit a certain 15 winter days. The whole year’s crops could be destroyed because of one week’s drought.”  READ MORE Article Published by Yale University 4/2017 about the "Disappearing Nile" Prophecy in the Book of Daniel says that knowledge would increase in the End Times "....Then there will be a time of anguish greater than any since nations first came into existence. But at that time every one of your people whose name is written in the book will be rescued...Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever. But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.”   - Daniel 12: 1-4 Just think back through the centuries for a moment. Has there ever been a generation that had so many advances in knowledge and in modes of transportation? Just 150 years ago the main mode of transportation was horse and carriage which is also true back through every century, less the carriage. The increase in knowledge in our generation is absolutely astounding.  In fact, until we had television, radio and the internet it would not have been possible for the entire world to hear the gospel message. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Matthew 24:14 We are living in "The Information Age" making this sign seem even more obvious. Even the most skeptical mind must admit that knowledge is exploding in all directions. It is said that 80% percent of the world's total knowledge has been brought forth in the last decade and that 90% percent of all the scientists who have ever lived are alive today. Think of what we have seen within the last 100 years: Man went to the moon, nuclear weapons, heart transplants, cloning, computers, satellites, drones, cell phones, modes of transportation, 3D printers, video, medical advancements, scientific advancements, robot companions, and list could go on and on.  While it is true that the vast majority of the world will be without God and without hope when Jesus returns, the Bible also says that many people will understand, prepare, and be ready.  "Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand." - Daniel 12:10 I believe Global Warming is explained in the Bible. God said He would brighten the sun in the last days in the prophecy of Isaiah. Although scientist scramble for answers from the atmosphere, it is right here in black and white. "The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven full days..."  - Isaiah 30:26 Click here to read the article from The Guardian and the opinion of scientists written in March 2017 Ask Google: "is the sun getting brighter?" The Lord told us in His word what would happen so we could understand, discern and know when the time for the end was near, "even at the doors." And, He told us that as His children, we would not be caught by surprise. Yes, He did say, no man will know the day or the hour, but then He gave us very detailed descriptions so that we could know the season of time.  "Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober." - 1 Thess 5:1-6 While it is true that the vast majority of the world will be without God and without hope when Jesus returns, the Bible also says that many people will understand, prepare, and be ready.  "Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand." - Daniel 12:10

In Christianity Under Attack
"This has nothing to do with women's health, but with the health of a precious, struggling newborn gasping for breath after attempted murder." ̵ James Dobson, Ph.D. Contact your senators and urge them to vote FOR the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (S.311) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Today, the U.S. Senate is scheduled for a floor vote on Senate bill S.311, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act sponsored by Senator Ben Sasse (R., Neb.). The bill would guarantee that any child born alive in the context of an abortion would be provided full legal protection as a living human being. Therefore, the bill also mandates that medical treatment to attempt to save the child's life also be provided. Sen. Sasse had originally called for "unanimous consent," a parliamentary procedure that would have expedited the bill's passage through the Senate, however the effort was blocked by Senator Patty Murray (D., Wash.) on behalf of Senate Democrats. There is currently no federal law which requires medical professionals to provide treatment for children born alive after attempted abortions, and as of 2014 only 26 states had laws mandating medical care in such instances. Furthermore, New York's recently passed Reproductive Health Act (RHA) removed that state's protection for children born alive after an abortion. Dr. James Dobson issues the following statement in support of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act:"In all my time in the pro-life movement, never did I think I would need to publicly declare my support for a bill like the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. I am truly saddened that we as a country would even have need to protect a child who has survived the horrors of an attempted abortion and has been left to die on a porcelain tray. Shockingly, despite what some politicians like Sen. Murray would have you believe, we do not currently have federal protection for babies who have survived such a procedure. "Politicians such as Sen. Murray would have you believe that this bill is an affront to a woman's 'health'. That's an outright lie and Sen. Murray knows this. She should be ashamed of herself for spreading such a fallacy. This has nothing to do with women's health, but with the health of a precious, struggling newborn gasping for breath after attempted murder. The failed effort to pass the bill by unanimous voice vote is a national disgrace. Should the bill fail to pass the Senate floor vote on Monday, we must call out all those who opposed it as openly endorsing infanticide. "Therefore, it is up to Christians and Americans of good faith to correct course and right the ship of our nation. We must pray for our leaders that they will act in wisdom and with urgency. Every human child is an image bearer of the Creator, and we are all fearfully and wonderfully knit together in our mother's womb. I call on all 100 Senators to support the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, sending a resounding and emphatic message to the country that the heinous practice of infanticide will never be allowed in our nation." In Discipleship
Jesus said of Judas Iscariot the most terrible thing that could be said of any man: “…It would have been good for that man if he had not been born” (Mark 14:21). His mother is unknown; his father’s name is given as Simon (John 6:71); however, no one except the Lord knew that the first cries of the baby boy heard in his home would be from one who would ruin a name forever. Judas had been a valued and honorable Hebrew name. For example, Judas Maccabeus was one of the great liberators and patriots of the Jews during the intertestamental period. According to the uninspired historical record now known as 1 Maccabees, Jews started to fight off the Syrians, hoping to secure the freedom to worship Jehovah. In 167 B.C.E., Judas Maccabeus (the hammer), a Levite priest, became leader and hero of this resistance movement. Judas was also the name of one of the half-brothers of Jesus (Matt.13:55). Many bore the name of Judas during the time of our Lord’s ministry, but after the betrayal, that name became a byword for shame and treachery (Luke 6:16; Matt.10:3; Acts 15:22ff). No one would dare name a man-child that name today. In the four lists of the Apostles, the name Judas appears last in every list for obvious reasons. Peter is first, Judas is last. In the Doge, the great palace of the rulers in Venice, there hangs a covered portrait. When you pass by the other historical portraits, they are well lit and prominent, but near the middle of the hallway you come to one that is “draped over.” When you look behind it, you find the picture of one of the early leaders of Venice who later betrayed the city. In order to shame the one portrayed, a drape hangs over the betrayer. In a very real sense, there is a drape over the portrait of Judas Iscariot. Everyone knows the particular act of treachery that earned him that title of infamy, but what is often forgotten is the story behind the man. • How did he become one of degradation, contention, and abhorrence? • Where did the ingratitude and selfishness come from which began his collapse? • How did it spread? Was Judas forced by the hand of providence or did he choose his fate? It is interesting that Peter―the great denier of Jesus―was restored and became the great preacher at Pentecost, but Judas―the great betrayer―only knew remorse and is marked down forever as a man of contempt and shame. Did Judas have the potential to be like Peter? Was there a glimmer of promise in him? There is so much about Judas that we would like to know. What do we know about his upbringing, personality, habits, and the friends that helped shape him? Very little is revealed. However, there are biblical facts concerning him that help us to learn something about his character and what led to its collapse. His Name and Background: There are two suppositions concerning his last name (Iscariot) which give us clues about his background. The Hebrew word “ish” (“man”) and “kerioth” point us to the region where he was born. We know from the biblical record that Kerioth was a village in the southern part of the holy land (Josh.15:25). He was Judas Iscariot, a man from Kerioth. What this tells us is that Judas was the only one of the twelve that was not a Galilean. He came from the south. He was, from the beginning, “the odd man out.” He may have felt a twinge of superiority because of that, for the Judea and Jerusalem Jews always felt superior or “blueblooded” over the Galileans who tended to be mongrels in their ancestry. His name, Ish Kerioth, a man from the village of Kerioth, stamps him from the beginning as the odd man out. The other supposition is that in the earliest days of the first century, there was a group called the Sicarii, which means “the dagger carriers.” The Sicarii were violent Jewish nationalists. They were the ancient Jewish equivalent of the modern Shiite Moslem. Some believe that the name Iscariot comes from the name Sicarii, the dagger carriers―a kind of guerrilla war group of Jewish nationalists. If this were true, then we know that Judas had a political bent and perhaps joined with Jesus more as a political leader than as a personal friend. We can safely assume that Judas saw in Jesus the charismatic command that he would perhaps influence for the purposes of the Sicarii. In other words, he wanted to make Jesus like him, rather than be like the Lord Jesus. The lesson here is that this kind of native bent is in all of us. We, as sinners, by nature would like to tame, domesticate, manipulate, and shape the Lord Jesus to be what we would like Him to be. This is the blasphemous undercurrent of the health and wealth Gospel which really says, in essence: we want to shape You to bless, endorse, and further our desires and causes rather than bow down and allow You to shape us to be like You. His designation gives us an initial insight. But perhaps what is more puzzling is… His Opportunity: No man in the group had a more promising start than Judas. Although we know nothing of the actual event of his calling by the Master and the experiences that led up to it, the question of the ages has been: why was he chosen to be one of the twelve? In Luke 6:16, we read that after our Lord had prayed all night, He chose the twelve including “…Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.” In other words, this was no split-second decision on the part of Christ. After conversing with His Father all night long, He still chose Judas. There is no evidence from the beginning that Judas was a self-seeking hypocrite. On the contrary, it is fair to assume that Judas was moved with the same kind of enthusiasm as the others. Let us put to rest once for all the idea that Jesus deliberately or intentionally fingered His betrayer. Read James 1:13 carefully and you will find that “…God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.” Why then did Jesus choose Judas? Here is the mysterious nature and balance between the sovereignty of God and the free agency of man. Neither Jesus nor Judas are instruments of blind fate or pawns in the divine strategy. The commentator, James Edwards, affirms that “Divine providence neither cancels human freedom nor relieves human responsibility for moral choices. Both currents of divine foreordination and human free will intersect in the cross.” Why did Jesus choose him? The more compelling question is: why did He choose you or me? Jesus was willing to take “the risk of love” on Judas, just as He does with us. He was willing to risk His own vulnerability on what might have been. Knowing what He knew about them and about us, why does Jesus still choose us? The writer to the Hebrews tells us in 2:17, “…He had to be made like His brethren in all things [except sin], so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God…” Is there conceivably a more bitter experience than the one of being betrayed by a friend? His Downfall: The only handicap Judas possessed was the same handicap that we, and all of the other disciples, possessed: a fallen nature. Keep in mind that as a part of the plan of redemption, Jesus takes us where we are and, through regeneration and sanctification, He progressively reduces our nature from being a negative disability, turning it into a positive capacity to glorify Himself (1 Cor.6:19-20). In the case of all the other disciples, this change happened. Each disciple increasingly became competent for carrying out His kingdom agenda. But Judas grew worse, until, in the end, Satan entered into him through a door that he himself opened! (John 13:2; Luke 22:3-6, 47-48) • He became blinded to all his statements of commitment. • He made a calculated bargain with the Master’s enemies to betray Him into their power for a price. • He rejected a friendship he no longer felt was necessary. • He chose to be the willing pawn and betray the Master with a kiss. • He became the victim of remorse and demon-possessed anarchy against the Son of God, which led to self-murder in the dark of night. (James Edwards, The Gospel According to Mark, p.424) An unknown poet once wrote: For ships sail East, and ships sail West On the self-same winds that blow. It is not the gale, but the set of the sail That determines the way they go! The story of Judas could really be the story of what could happen to any one of us. The true story is told of Leonardo da Vinci who had difficulty finding models for the faces of Jesus and Judas when he was painting his renowned “Last Supper.” He finally found what he considered the right face for Christ. Years later, the only face he had not yet painted was that of Judas. One day, while walking in the slums of his city, he found a man with a face filled with hate, lined deeply with the struggles of life. The artist had never seen a sadder man. The man sat for the painting, and when da Vinci finished, he asked the man his name. The man said, “Don’t you remember me? Several years ago you used my face as the face of Christ.” What appeared so righteous years ago now appeared exceedingly evil. A wise Christian doesn’t forget that a little of Judas resides in all of us, and, therefore, we must not be superficial in our devotion and loyalty to Jesus. Discussion: In what way can your devotion to Jesus be superficial? What will you do to guard yourself against this tendency? Here was a man who ministered with miraculous power, according to Mark 3:14-19 (Cf. Matt.7:21ff). Privilege does not ensure men or women against the ultimate disaster. The same kind of tragedy could be re-forming in our lives right now. The question the disciples asked can still be asked of us today: “Is it I, Lord? Is it I?” Let no one settle down with some self-complacent attitude of Judas as if we could never betray the Lord (1 Cor.10:12). The question we must ask in this study is: what undetected weaknesses or unprotected areas did Judas, as well as the other disciples, miss? How did he go all that time under the gracious influences of the Lord’s ministry and yet end up a castaway and apostate? Several insights are given of the character of Judas: • First, it all began with an unsurrendered life. Judas failed because he refused to make a full and entire surrender of himself to the Master from the start. He simply did not leave all when he joined Jesus. Have you? He carried over into the new life a part of the old love. And that old love competed with Christ for the rule of his heart. He was overcome because his allegiance, though openly professed, was secretly divided. He wasn’t wholehearted. Sincerity was as far as it went, but he didn’t go far enough. An honorable life is comprised of three parts: reality, sincerity, and integrity. When the first is missing, the other two can hide under a cloak of hypocrisy for a time, but, sooner or later, they will be exposed. Here we also discover how fatally easy it is to mistake mere knowledge about Christ for that close intimate relationship which He describes as truly knowing Him (Matt.7:21ff; John 17:3). • Second, it continued with an undetected and protected weakness. Judas was one who took great pride in the handling of money. His position as the purse-bearer indicated that he had an aptitude for finance, economical habits, and administrative ability. He prided himself on being wise with wealth, and yet he ignored all of the teaching about how impossible it was to serve God and mammon (Matt.6:22- 24). He heard about the tragedy of bursting barns and an unsecured soul (Luke 12:13-34). He heard about the disaster of a world gained and a life lost (Matt.16:26). But hearing without heeding brings a delusion, according to James 1:22. In John 12:1-6, we discover that the only motive assigned to Judas was that of a greedy, grasping spirit. We would like something more dramatic, but nothing is there. Slowly and insidiously, he came under the power of the things he loved most. Greed slowly and silently takes over a man’s soul like termites spreading over a house made of maple wood. This is why the writer of Hebrews warned us, “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money…” (Heb.13:5; Cf. Luke 12:15). A subtle double-mindedness comes with caring so much about money. Many will argue that money is a part of life and we cannot do much without money in this world, and even in the church. However, the subtle resistance that is paraded as respect for money fails to pass the smell test. What some call stewardship reeks of insatiable desire—a love of money which is the “…root [or source] of all sorts of evil…” (1 Tim.6:10), even betrayal of the Lord of Glory! There are four other roots of evil that we would do well to weed out of our lives: 1) bitterness (Heb.12:15); 2) unsanctified desire (James 1:14ff); 3) unbelief (Heb.3:12); and 3) unforgiveness (Eph.4:30-32). Taking a personal examination: 1. Bitterness (Heb.12:15)—What does it mean? What does it do? How can you tell? What should you do? 2. Lust (James 1:14ff) 3. Unbelief (Heb.3:12) 4. Unforgiveness (Eph.4:30-32) With greed comes a lure, which leads to a lust, which ends in lostness. “Still as of old, men by themselves are priced, For thirty pieces Judas sold himself—not Christ.”2 • Third, Judas possessed an uncleansed and prideful heart. Secretly, “…he was a thief…” who lived with a bad, evil, defiled conscience (John 12:6) which nagged him and ultimately drove him to suicide in order to silence it. You cannot play with your conscience! Luther was right when he said, “It is neither safe nor wise to go against it.” What would have happened if Judas would have just taken his secret struggles to the Lord of grace and mercy? What if he had humbled himself and admitted, “There is a foe inside who’s too strong for me!”? But he didn’t! Why? Why? Why? He was in love with the foe. His idol became his guide. When your heart has never really been the Lord’s completely, then every day it becomes more and more divided, until, at last, it becomes an opposing force no longer reconcilable. Even to the last day, Jesus endeavored to make Judas face up to himself. At the table, He offers Him the sop (John 13:21-26). In the Garden, He calls him, “Friend…” (Matt.26:50). Up until the last, Jesus sought to win the man of Kerioth, but sin is a cruel, raging ruler that violently plunged him into despair. The final cry heard from him is, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” (Matt.27:4). 2 J. Stuart Holden, The Master and His Men, p.86 The bright warning flare is the story of how one of the most privileged men in the history of the world became the most despised. The warning is: 1. Beware of the half-hearted Christian life. It will only end with a whole-hearted allegiance to the god of this world. 2. Beware of the small beginnings of great tragedies. Spiritual evils are progressive—from small imperceptible beginnings, they will grow and increase to the worst of evils (Cf. 2 Tim.2:17; 3:13). Fight the first risings. The little foxes ruin the vineyards (Song.2:15). 3. Beware of honoring the Lord with your lips while your heart is actually given to another. In Spiritual Warfare
We err when we judge the effectiveness of our prayers solely by what we can see happening around us. Prayer is a matter of faith. It is not a religious ritual. It is a vital part of an active and ongoing relationship with God. It is taking God at His word and understanding God’s promises knowing that, if we pray without having unconfessed sin, He will hear us. We must keep on praying even when we cannot see what He is doing. Sometimes, if we are experiencing a time of silence it is because God is doing something in light of eternity and not in light of our circumstances. “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him my salvation.” – Psalm 91:15-16 “Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies.” -Psalm 60:11-12 “Behold I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Luke 10:19 “Take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” - Ephesians 6:13 “ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” – 2 Cor 10:3-5 Warrior’s Prayer Heavenly father, I thank you for the authority you have given me over Satan. I fully submit to You and to Your Word. I have surrendered my life over to You. As you have instructed, I want to put on the whole armor of God! I put on the Girdle of Truth! By the enabling power of Your Holy Spirit, I stand firm in the truth of Your Word so I will not be a victim of Satan’s lies. I trust in Your promises for me and I put on the breastplate of Righteousness! I pray that you will guard my heart from evil so I will remain pure and holy, protected under the blood of Jesus Christ. I put on the Shoes of Peace! Help me to stand firm in the Good News of the Gospel so Your peace will shine through me and be a light to all I encounter. I take the Shield of Faith! I trust You and love You with my whole heart. May I be firmly rooted in Your truths and ready for Satan’s fiery darts of doubt, denial, and deceit so I will not be vulnerable to spiritual defeat. I put of the Helmet of Salvation! Let the meditation of my heart and mind be focused on You and Your Word so Satan will not have a stronghold in my thoughts. I take the Sword of the Spirit! May the two-edged sword of Your Word be ready in my hands so I can expose the tempting words of Satan. By faith, I have put on the whole armor of God! I pray that Your will be done in my life and on this earth just as it is in heaven and I praise You for spiritual victory! In Jesus Name – Amen.

In Christianity Under Attack
As heinous as critics find New York's decision to legalize abortion up until the day of birth, former Planned Parenthood clinic director turned pro-life advocate Abby Johnson warns this is nothing new. It's a much bigger issue than most people realize. The controversial Reproductive Health Act, which was signed into law Tuesday by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), does away with restrictions on abortion past 24 weeks. Given the state's track record on reproductive issues, Johnson says the news comes as no surprise to her. "New York is already known as the nation's abortion capital, so I don't think that's going to change with this new law," she recently told CBN News. However, in a wake-up call to pro-life Americans, Johnson notes that similar late-term abortion scenarios have long been unfolding across the United States. "I know that many are disheartened by the New York vote to legalize abortion through birth, but let me be clear," she writes in a Facebook post. "This is already happening in almost a dozen other states. THIS IS NOT NEW. Babies have been aborted through birth for quite some time now. New York has now just been added to the list." Johnson also predicts that abortion doctors in other parts of the country may soon be relocating to The Empire State. "I think that what will happen is that a lot of these late-term abortion providers are going to be now seeking practices in New York so that they can perform late-term abortions without any penalty," she said. How Widespread is Late-Term Abortion? The Guttmacher Institute reports that while most states restrict later-term abortions, many of those restrictions have been struck down – mostly because they don't contain a health exception. And according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the following states don't have any prohibitions on abortion later in pregnancy:  Alaska, Colorado, District of Colombia, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and Vermont.    In addition, 24 other states make an exception, allowing late-term abortions for the sake of the mother's general health. Pro-life advocates contend that the generic "health" exception essentially allows abortion-on-demand, saying late-term abortions can be allowed in any states that have a generic exception for the health of the mother. Faithwire's Will Maule explains, "Effectively, abortion will be available 'on demand' up until birth — if the woman wants to terminate her fully-formed child because she claims it is too much for her to deal with financially, emotionally or otherwise, she will be allowed to do so." Other states from the KFF list make it clear that the mother's life or "physical health" must be at risk to allow a late-term abortion, which seems to be proof of that pro-life claim regarding the general "health" exception. What exactly is late-term abortion? Christian author and speaker Lisa Bevere offers this heartbreaking description: And Johnson offers this rebuttal to the health argument that pro-choice advocates make for late-term abortion: The Broader Nationwide Battle Over Abortion Meanwhile, in yet another blow to the pro-life cause, a district court judge ruled Tuesday that Iowa's pro-life "fetal heartbeat" law is unconstitutional and may not be enforced. The law would ban abortions once a baby's heartbeat is detected, which can happen as early as six weeks into gestation. Many abortion advocates are hoping developments like the ones in New York and Iowa are a sign that 2019 will be a watershed year in what they view as the fight for women's 'reproductive health.' "This is a time where women are feeling they have some political power. This is not a foregone conclusion, but there's no time to stand on the sidelines anymore," the Pacific Standard quoted Julie McClain Downey, senior director of campaign communications at the pro-abortion Emily's List. Johnson, however, argues there has never been a better time to advance the cause of the unborn – and perhaps ultimately overturn Roe v. Wade. "I think it is the right time to take a personhood or heartbeat bill to the Supreme Court. And so that's sort of the hope – that a bill will be passed in a state that the pro-choice groups (Planned Parenthood, NARAL, NAF) will then challenge the state law and then take it to the Supreme Court," she told CBN News. "And then, hopefully, the Supreme Court would hear that case and would then overturn Roe v. Wade and would allow states to make the decision whether or not they want abortion in their own state," she said. That's precisely the reason Cuomo and New York Democrats gave for expanding abortion rights and adding them into New York law. They say Roe v. Wade could be overturned soon, which would then leave the future of abortion rights in the hands of the individual states. So they want to enshrine abortion into New York's state constitution next to ensure that abortion will always be legal in New York, even late-term abortions up until the point of birth. In End Times Prophesy
Jacob’s descendants would regain control of Israel Written: about 750 BC Fulfilled: Since 1948 In Amos 9:14-15, the prophet said that there would come a time when the exiles of Israel would again have Israel as their own land and that they would never be uprooted again. Amos lived about 2700 years ago, during a time when the people of Israel were being forced out of their homeland by a succession of foreign invasions. Despite many centuries of exile, many Jews returned to Israel and reclaimed sovereignty over a portion of their ancient homeland. This declaration of independence, in 1948, triggered a war with the surrounding countries, which objected to the presence of a Jewish state. On May 15, 1948, the day that armies from the surrounding countries invaded, Azzam Pasha, the Secretary General of the Arab League, said “This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades.” Similar quotes were uttered by others during the war of 1948-49 and during the two major wars that followed. Despite its tiny size, Israel prevailed in these wars, preventing its people from being uprooted again, as they had been in ancient times.Amos 9:14-15I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God. Israel would be brought back to life Bible passage: Ezekiel 37:10-14 Written: between 593-571 BC Fulfilled: 1948 In Ezekiel 37:10-14, the prophet receives a vision in which Israel was seen as a scattering of dried-up bones. In this vision, God tells Ezekiel that the bones (Israel) would be brought back to life. Just as Ezekiel had prophesized about 2600 years ago, the Jews were brought back to the land, and the country of Israel was brought back to life. Israel re-established sovereignty in 1948, a mere three years after the end of the Holocaust, during which the Nazis killed about one-third of the world’s Jewish population. "So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army. Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’” - Ezekiel 37:10-14 Isaiah spoke of a Israel being reborn in one day Bible passage: Isaiah 66:7-8 Written: perhaps between 701-681 BC Fulfilled: 1948 In Isaiah 66:7-8, the prophet foreshadowed the re-birth of Israel in 1948. Isaiah describes a woman giving birth before going into labor, and he speaks of a country being born in one day. This accurately describes what happened on May 14, 1948 - when the Jews declared independence for Israel as a united and sovereign nation for the first time in 2900 years. During that same day, the United States issued a statement recognizing Israel’s sovereignty. And, only hours beforehand, a United Nations mandate expired, ending British control of the land. During a 24-hour span of time, foreign control of the land of Israel had formally ceased, and Israel had declared its independence, and its independence was acknowledged by other nations. Modern Israel was literally was born in a single day.Isaiah said the birth would take place before there would be labor pains. And that too is precisely what happened. A movement called Zionism began in the 1800s to encourage Jews worldwide to move to Israel, which at that time was called Palestine. Within hours of the declaration of independence in 1948, Israel was attacked by the surrounding countries of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. When reading Isaiah 66:7-8, keep in mind that Israel’s status as a sovereign nation was established and reaffirmed during the course of a single day, and that it was born of a movement called Zionism, and that its declaration of independence was not the result of a war but rather the cause of one.Isaiah 66:7-8“Before she goes into labor, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son. Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.” Israel would be re-established as a united nation Bible passage: Ezekiel 37:21-22 Written: between 593-571 BC Fulfilled: 1948 In Ezekiel 37:21-22, the prophet said that God would one day bring the people of Israel back to Israel, as a united nation. This might have been a shock for Ezekiel. He lived about 2600 years ago. At that time, the people of Israel had already divided themselves into two separate kingdoms. And, both kingdoms had been conquered by foreign invaders, who forced many of the people, including Ezekiel, into exile. But, when Jews reclaimed sovereignty in 1948, they did so as a united people, creating one nation - Israel.Ezekiel 37:21-22and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. The second Israel would be more impressive than the first Bible passage: Jeremiah 16:14-15 Written: sometime from 626 to about 586 BC Fulfilled: 1948 In Jeremiah 16:14-15, the prophet said the second Israel would be more impressive than the first. In many regards, it is. The first time that Israel was established as a country was after Moses led the descendants of Jacob (typically referred to today as Jews) out of Egypt, where they had been enslaved for 400 years. They then conquered Canaan and established Israel about 3400 years ago. But the second time that Israel was established was after the Jews had been scattered far and wide for a few thousand years. This time the Jews had to return from as far away as the United States, China, Russia and South Africa.Jeremiah 16:14-15“However, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when men will no longer say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ but they will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ For I will restore them to the land I gave their forefathers. Ezekiel predicted when Israel would be re-established Bible passage: Ezekiel 4:3-6 Written: between 593-571 BC Fulfilled: 1948 In Ezekiel 4:3-6, the prophet said the Jews, who had lost control of their homeland, would be punished for 430 years. This prophecy, according to Bible scholar Grant Jeffrey, pinpointed the 1948 rebirth of Israel. Here’s a summary of Jeffrey’s theory:Ezekiel said the Jews were to be punished for 430 years because they had turned away from God. As part of the punishment, the Jews lost control of their homeland to Babylon. Many Jews were taken as captives to Babylon.Babylon was later conquered by Cyrus in 539 BC. Cyrus allowed the Jews to leave Babylon and to return to their homeland. But, only a small number returned. The return had taken place sometime around 536 BC, about 70 years after Judah lost independence to Babylon.Because most of the exiles chose to stay in pagan Babylon rather than return to the Holy Land, the remaining 360 years of their punishment was multiplied by 7. The reason is explained in Bible’s book of Leviticus. (Leviticus 26:18, Leviticus 26:21, Leviticus 26:24 and Leviticus 26:28). In Leviticus, it says that if the people did not repent while being punished, the punishment would be multiplied by 7. And, by staying in pagan Babylon, most exiles were refusing to repent. So, if you take the remaining 360 years of punishment and multiply by 7, you get 2,520 years. But, Jeffrey says those years are based on an ancient 360-day lunar calendar. If those years are adjusted to the modern solar calendar, the result is 2,484 years. And, there were exactly 2,484 years from 536 BC to 1948, which is the year that Israel regained independence.(In this Bible passage, Ezekiel is asked by God to symbolically act out the 430 years of punishment)Ezekiel 4:3-6... Then take an iron pan, place it as an iron wall between you and the city and turn your face toward it. It will be under siege, and you shall besiege it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel. “Then lie on your left side and put the sin of the house of Israel upon yourself. You are to bear their sin for the number of days you lie on your side. I have assigned you the same number of days as the years of their sin. So for 390 days you will bear the sin of the house of Israel. “After you have finished this, lie down again, this time on your right side, and bear the sin of the house of Judah. I have assigned you 40 days, a day for each year. The people of Israel would return to “their own land” Bible passage: Ezekiel 34:13 Written: between 593-571 BC Fulfilled: after May 14, 1948 In Ezekiel 34:13, the prophet said that God would gather the people of Israel scattered throughout the world and bring them back to “their own land.” After many centuries of dispersion, hundreds of thousands of Jews returned to their ancient homeland beginning in the late 1800s. But, millions more returned after Israel declared independence in 1948. In other words, millions of exiles returned to their ancient homeland which was now truly “their own land” in the sense that it was now a sovereign Jewish state.Ezekiel 34:13I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. God would watch over the people of Israel Bible passage: Jeremiah 31:10 Written: sometime from 626 to about 586 BC Fulfilled: 1948 - Present In Jeremiah 31:10, the prophet said that God would one day gather the Jews back to Israel and that He would watch over them like a shepherd. Believe what you wish, but there is evidence that God indeed has watched over the re-established nation of Israel. Hours after Israel declared independence in 1948, the surrounding countries attacked, hoping to replace the Jewish state with an Arab state. These countries are much larger than Israel. But tiny Israel prevailed in that war and was able to capture additional land, increasing the land size of Israel by 50 percent. Israel also prevailed in the two other major wars that followed.Jeremiah 31:10“Hear the word of the Lord, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’ Israel’s army would be disproportionately powerful Bible passage: Leviticus 26:3, 7-8 Written: perhaps around 1400 BC Fulfilled: 1948-49, 1967, etc. In Leviticus 26:3, 7-8, the Bible says that the army of Israel would have a supernatural power to prevail during times of conflict, if the people are obedient to the Lord. This Bible passage says that 5 people would be able to chase away 100 people, and that 100 would be able to chase away 10,000. Is there any proof to this incredible claim? Judge for yourself:Example 1: Within hours of Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon invaded Israel. The combined population of those countries was at least 20 million at that time. Israel had fewer than 1 million Jews. Even so, the Jews won the war and expanded the size of Israel by 50 percent.Example 2: During the War of 1967, Israel attacked the air force bases of the surrounding countries and took control of Jerusalem for the first time in about 2000 years. They also seized additional territory. That war lasted a mere 6 days.Example 3: On Oct. 6, 1973, Israel was attacked by Egypt and Syria. Other countries later joined the attack. But the Jews were able to push back the attacking armies and occupy land outside of Israel’s borders.Leviticus 26:3, 7-8“If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, ... You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.” The fortunes of the people of Israel would be restored Bible passage: Deuteronomy 30:3-5 Written: perhaps 1400 BC Fulfilled: 1948, etc. In Deuteronomy 30:3-5, the Bible said the Jews would be scattered worldwide and that they later would return to their homeland and have their fortunes restored. This prophecy began to be fulfilled in modern times during the late 1800s when many Jews returned to Israel, from as far away as China and the United States, Russia and South Africa. Israel declared independence in 1948. Today, Israel is among the world’s most prosperous countries. In 1999, for example, Israel’s per capita Gross Domestic Product was twice as prosperous than the neighboring countries.Deuteronomy 30:3-5then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you. Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back. He will bring you to the land that belonged to your fathers, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.
