TODAYS WORSHIP

THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE

…Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord. ~Job 1:21

A FEW THOUGHTS...

Unfortunately, what determines truth in the minds of most people is that which they hear repeated frequently. Repetition makes a fact seem more true, regardless of whether it is or not. These "truths" are put forth in a concerted manner and repeated to create what is desired to be perceived as true. Even if the "truth" makes no sense, if repeated enough it becomes "truth". When politicians, well-known personalities, the media, and school systems collaborate to echo the same "fact" they change the minds of the people. We have seen this turn the minds of people who largely considered abortion a horror into considering it a choice and a right. We have seen this turn the minds of people who never had any question of genders being only two choices, into the fluid notion of gender propagated now. We have seen this change the minds of the people away from creation and onto evolution, even though the science behind it is more faith than science. We are seeing this so vividly now in these times of chaos as never before. This unwavering uniformity of voices, even if wrong, is attempting to create the new "truth" whether or not it makes sense or not.

It was three against one. Job's friends continued to pile up against him. They piggyback upon one another's comments. They accept them as truth, without any validation. We see the comments of Eliphaz in Job 22:5-9, "Is not your wickedness great, And your iniquity without end? For you have taken pledges from your brother for no reason, And stripped the naked of their clothing. You have not given the weary water to drink, And you have withheld bread from the hungry. But the mighty man possessed the land, And the honorable man dwelt in it. You have sent widows away empty, And the strength of the fatherless was crushed." This is quite a list of accusations without the slightest proof of being true being launched against a man, Job, who was deemed to be a man of integrity and considered "the greatest of all the people of the East" (Job 1:3). Eliphaz never witnessed these events, because they never happened. They were spoken boldly by Eliphaz, and never refuted by the others. This is how lies are put forth, and how they become "truth". If these men now go out and repeat these same lies to others, a new narrative evolves and a man's reputation has been destroyed.

What is the defense against falsehoods being put forth as truth? The Word of God! Jesus said in John 8:31-32, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." With so many speaking forth nonsense, but doing so boldly, a new and false narrative is being produced. Without the word of God, most just jump onto the majority to define their version of truth. But those in power have always known this and have used this as their propaganda as it is slowly accepted. George Orwell, the author of "1984", and "Animal Farm" said, "The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of history." He also said, "But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought." Noam Chomsky said, "Propaganda is to democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state." JFK said, "They follow the Hitler line - no matter how big the lie; repeat it often enough and the masses will regard it as truth." Hitler, himself said, "The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan." Lastly, Joseph Goebbels (Reich Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany) said, "It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise." There is a war going on for the minds and souls of the people. Falsehoods are being propagated as truths by those in positions of authority and is being affirmed by others in positions of influence. Without the word of God, the sheep will naturally begin to follow the masses. With the Word of God, and with the Holy Spirit, we can know truth. The question is what are you abiding in? If you are looking for truth anywhere else, you are in danger. You will find truth in the pages of the entirety of Scripture. During these chaotic times, abiding in His Word is essential.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

"The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, 'O God, forgive me,' or 'Help me.'” - Billy Graham
