Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD. Psalms 31:24.

The Book of John begins in John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." If this isn't clear enough that Jesus is indeed, God incarnate, we read in Revelation 19:13, at Jesus' second coming, "He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God." We read further concerning His coming and His mission in John 1:10-14, "He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." Why did God come down to us as a human? We read in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." He came out of love for us. Further concerning His mission, we read in Philippians 2:5-9, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,". He loved us so much that He took on human flesh and died for us, for there was no other way to save us from the bondage of sin and death which surrounds every human. We read of the exchange which took place in 2 Corinthians 5:21, "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

Not only do we owe Him everything, but He loved us so much that He left us His Word so that we can reference it, study it, meditate on it, strengthen our trust from it, etc. There are many doubters who like to come up with some fictitious person who might not have had access to God's Word and therefore question God's fairness and His justice. First of all, God speaks to certain individuals through visions and dreams. Second of all, we who lack perfect fairness and justice are in no position to judge the One who possesses these qualities perfectly.

But most importantly, we, in this world are without excuse. The Bible in it's entirety has been translated into 698 languages, with the New Testament translated into an additional 1548 languages and Bible portions into an additional 1138 languages. The Bible is available in print or on the phone from a number of downloadable apps (such as YouVersion). The truth is there is simply no excuse. If someone chooses not to take the time to read God's Word, it is not because they are too busy, it is not because it is not available, it is not because they can't understand, it is because they made the choice not to read it. With one's eternal destination on the line, what could be more important? If one chooses not to believe in the reality of God, they will certainly realize the reality of God, when it is too late. Just like one can choose not to believe in gravity, but one step off the top of a building they will realize the folly of this doubt, the same thing will occur to unbelievers after they breathe their last.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

"The will of God will not take us where the grace of God cannot sustain us."
